MTN Project fame West Africa kicks off

MTN Project Fame West Africa Season 3 was officially ushered in by our delectable hosts Joseph Benjamin and Adora Oleh. The eighteen contestants who made it to the Opening Night traveled a long and difficult audition route! Out of several thousands from across West Africa, they emerged as the very best the region has to offer this season. All eighteen contestants had to compete for the fifteen vacancies in the Academy.

MTN Project Fame West Africa Season 3 was officially ushered in by our delectable hosts Joseph Benjamin and Adora Oleh. The eighteen contestants who made it to the Opening Night traveled a long and difficult audition route! Out of several thousands from across West Africa, they emerged as the very best the region has to offer this season. All eighteen contestants had to compete for the fifteen vacancies in the Academy.

Four of the fifteen contestants that make it to the Academy will win mouth watering and life changing prizes. The winner will step into stardom with 2.5 Million Naira, a Toyota Rav 4 and a recording contract. The first runner-up will receive 1.5 Million Naira and a Toyota Corolla, the second runner-up gets 1 Million Naira and a Toyota Yaris while the third runner-up goes home with 1 Million Naira.

 

The judges are Temitayo Ibitoye a.k.a  Tee-Y Mix one of Nigeria’s A-list music producers, award winning International recording artiste Bibie Brew, ace broadcaster Femi Aderibigbe a.k.a Kwame and maverick music sensation Nomoreloss. The Faculty - those who in ten weeks must turn raw talents into stars are Academy Principal Joke Silva, Music Director Ben Ogbeiwi, Voice Coach Ige, Choreographer Kaffy and Fitness Instructor Kayode Ogundepo.

 

The show kicked off with Xplicit dance group who stormed the stage with electrifying moves and stunts.  Djinee also thrilled the audience with his performance from start to finish.

 

Tolu from Kaduna set the ball rolling with Michael Bolton’s “When A Man Loves A Woman.” It was breath taking as he wowed the judges, faculty and of course the audience.

 

Next from Abuja were Rhoda and Lindsey as they sang “For You I Will” by Monica and “Time After Time” by Cindy Lauper respectively. Their sweet velvet voices resulted in amazing performances.

 

Joecelia from Sierra Leone sang Toni Braxton’s “Breathe Again” which she delivered with so much ease. With her song interpretation on point, Helen’s rendition of “Nothing Compares To You” by Sinead O’ Connor, was simply fabulous.

 

Next from Benin was Vwede who sang “Coast To Coast” by West Life. Yetunde from Ibadan sang “You Gotta Be” by Des’ree and she rocked like a star.

 

Eyo from Lagos sang “I Just Called To Say I Love You” by Stevie wonder. His performance was very stylish, dramatic and impressive. Could he be another Iyanya? Time will tell…

 

The small but mighty Chidinma from Ikorodu sang “Stick With You” by Pussy Cat Dolls. “Careless Whispers” by George Michael was performed by Shehu from Kaduna.

 

Modele from Abeokuta sang “Same Old Love” by Anita Baker. She was termed the ‘diva’ because her performance had so much passion, grace and style.

 

Kesse from Ghana was the man of the night; he won his way into the hearts of the judges, faculty and audience as he sang “Rock Me Tonight” by Freddie Jackson. He got a standing ovation!

 

Gold from Lagos then performed Sade Adu’s “Smooth Operator”, followed by Samuel from Liberia with “Lady In Red” by Chris De Burg.

 

“Where Do Broken Hearts Go” by Whitney Houston was performed by Adebola from Lagos. As far as the judges and faculty were concerned, it was the night’s most elegant and mature performance.

 

Monica from Enugu sang “Still The One’ by Shania Twain. Boyzone’s “No Matter What” was performed by Christian from Ghana. He was totally in sync with the song.

 

Ochuko from Lagos rounded up the evening with “My Girl” by The Temptations. There’s something about his personality and stage presence. He got a resounding applause from the live audience.

 

Who better than Mike, the winner of MTN Project Fame West Africa Season 2 to round up the night’s performances? Mike performed his hit song “Fine Fine Lady” featuring Illbliss.

 

After 18 fantastic performances, there was a lot of suspense as the Judges deliberated on who the unlucky three contestants returning home would be. Heartbeats could be heard racing back and forth awaiting the verdict. It was a tough call for the judges, the audience screamed and yelled for all to stay. The judges gave in and ALL 18 contestants were admitted into the Project Fame Academy. The rules were bent this time…wow!

 

It was a time of jubilation and of great relief. Tears of joy flowed freely as the contestants hugged themselves and congratulated each other for making it thus far. THE JOURNEY HAS JUST BEGUN…

 

Eighteen contestants will be competing for the ultimate prize in the MTN Project Fame West Africa Season 3.The power lies in your hands, to determine their fate through your votes. To keep your favorite contestant(s) in the Academy, text their unique numbers to 306 from an MTN line, viewers in Ghana should text their favourite contestant(s)' number to 1738. Five (5) contestants with the least vote by 7pm on Friday when the phone lines closes will stand the risk of being evicted on Saturday.

 

The phone lines are now open start voting for your favourite contestants immediately!!!! You can vote as many times as you want.
